Another Birthday Celebration

On June 25th we celebrated Abbie's 15th Birthday!  June is a very busy month for us with Birthday's and an Anniversary and Father's Day.  She had a nice quiet day sleeping most of the morning away before we woke her to give her the ritual of Birthday spankings.  It took two of us to pin her down. :)  She asked for her boyfriend to come over to watch a movie and have a Spaghetti & Meatball dinner and birthday cake.  She had a very nice day!

Another successful trip to the Country Market.

I was able to get over $80 worth of groceries for $40.  The 5 boxes of cereal would have cost me $20 alone if paid full price.  I love when I can get them for $1.25 each.

Prairie Days

Danni's 3rd Grade Class has been learning about how people lived in the old Prairie Days.  They had a field trip to a local place that's steeped in the history of this time.  She had to pack a lunch in a basket and had to bring the kind of food the children used to take to school back then.   No plastic bags or containers were allowed.  She had her juice in an old mason jar and we wrapped her sandwich in a cloth napkin.  She had a great time and really enjoyed dressing up.  Thanks to our friend Lisa for letting us borrow her outfit for the day!  Isn't she so cute! :)

Latest Updates

Wow does time fly!  I can’t believe it’s been a while since the last post we made. It’s been busy around here with the kids and with all the school end of the year stuff plus stuff around the house. By the time the end of the day comes I’m so tired that I don’t want to do anything.
We celebrated our 24th Wedding Anniversary back on the 4th.  We can't believe it's been that long.  Looking back over the years we have accomplished so much with raising a family and owning a house and doing maintenance with them.  Along with everything else our love for each other has grown much more than ever.
We didn’t get to do anything that day to celebrate, we ended up at a banquet at the school.  We did manage to celebrate the following week.  Timmy took a vacation day on a Monday and we loaded the van with our bikes and headed to an off trail riding path.  It’s been about a year since we were last on a bike and boy where we out of shape.  It was a really nice flat path that runs along railroad tracks and nestled into a light wooded area that ends up going 6.2 miles. No, we did not do the whole thing, someone would have had to pick us up off the ground and we probably would need a new butt at that point. J  After that we went and had a late lunch/supper at an All You Can Eat Chinese Buffet. Yummy it was!  We ended wrapping up our day picking up some groceries from Walmart while we were already out that way. We also stopped at this place called Trans Market that has the most awesome prices on fresh fruit and vegetables.

We celebrated Emily’s Birthday back on the 8th.  She is now 11 years old. She is growing up fast.  We had a family birthday cake and her favorite macaroni & cheese dinner.  We surprised her by taking her, Danni & her friend Rylee to the Drive-In Theater to see Madagascar 3 and Men in Black 3.  It has been a real long time since we went to a drive-in.  The best part was that it was only $15.00 for a whole car load for 2 movies!  And you could bring your own food in too.  The movies were awesome!  We are definitely doing this again with the other kids too.  You can’t beat the price.  If we paid full price going it would have cost us over $100 plus more for snacks.

Timmy’s been working on the siding on the outside of the house around our new door.  It is coming out so nice.  We can’t wait for all of it to be done.  Hopefully next year we can put on a new deck. We will have to wait and see what next year brings.

Bamboo

We have wild bamboo growing and it is a pain!  Needless to say it grows everywhere you don’t want it.  We are not happy with whoever planted this stuff.  When it grows really tall and tight like a bush it is pretty but when it starts shooting off shoots everywhere it will drive you crazy.  Our neighbor once tried to spray some sort of chemical to try to kill it and it seemed like it was going to work but then it decided to come back in full swing.  We’ve been digging and pulling it up because it is just taking over everything.  Does anyone have any ideas how to kill this stuff?
