Prom Dress Shopping

It's that time of year: Prom is just around the corner and Brittany and Abbie are itching to get out to the stores and start trying on dresses.

A couple of weeks ago I was with Abbie trying on dresses and when we were in the dressing room she did fall in love with a dress that I told her she had to try on just to see what it looked like.  Mom knows best! :)  It was a long, cream colored, strapless gown; the upper body was covered with these pretty cream flowers that went all around and the bottom just fell so elegant.  But she wasn't  sure she wanted a long gown or not.  So I went out onto the floor to see what else I could find that would look good on her.  I happened to find one dress that was all by itself.  I looked at it and said this was Abbie's color.   It was a very pretty blue with rhinestones on the front.  I showed it to her and she just loved it and it looked great on her.  Dad loved it too!  I asked her what the price was on the tag but the tag was half ripped off with no price so I had to hunt down the sales lady to find out.  Abbie was paying for her own dress this year because she has a job.  Well, when we where with the sales lady the computer said the dress was only $25.00 buckeroos!  I just about fell over.  Plus we were able to get another 15% off of the dress and brought it down to $21.00 with tax.  If that isn't the best deal of the night I don't know what is.

Yesterday, I took all the girls out to the mall area because they had no school for Teacher Workshop day.  This time we needed to get Brittany her dress.  We started out at a place called Debs.  They had tons of dresses and Brittany managed to find 3 that she was willing to try on.  She narrowed it down to a really prettty white one that looked very stunning on her but it was slightly too big and they didn't have the correct size.  We decided to wait and look around and if nothing else was better we would order it online.

We went over to the mall to Sears...they don't have prom dresses so don't go there.  We went to JC Penney's and I was very disappointed with their selection.  They had all of like 3 long gowns and 10 short dresses.  I really don't like what JC Penney has done to themselves.

Last place to look was Macy's again.  She fell in love with a really pretty deep purple dress that had one shoulder strap with little jewels on it.  It was Brittany all over.  The price of the dress was $99.00 and they were having a 20% off sales so we did good.  I told her the dress had to be $100 or less.  I refuse to pay for anything higher.  Now we had shoe money with the discount.  We went over to the shoe department there just to look, thinking there was no chance in Macy's knowing how expensive they are known to be.  But they had some cute shoes that were on sale for $30 and we got the extra 20% off again.  I think we got a great deal for the day.

Prom is at the end of April so I will be posting lots of pictures of the girls after that.

Zombies

I don’t know if anyone else watches this show but we are totally hooked on this show.  We are die-hard fans that are tuning in every Sunday night at 9pm on AMC.

I’m not the average person that likes horror, spooky, or gory shows or movies.  I just don’t like them but, for some reason I really like this show.  It has a decent story line.  On some of the scenes I have a tough time with it when they are taking a walker out with some sort of blow to the head.  (This is the only way to kill a Zombie.) This is where I do a lot of Ewe, Yuck and that was just gross.

I don’t think we are going to have an invasion of the Zombie Apocalypse but we are learning what to do in case it ever happened.

If you ever get a chance to catch them in reruns or watch them on Netflix I bet you will be hooked after the first show.  They are on season 3 right now.

Daryl is one of my favorite characters.

Time knows how to fly!

Where in the world did February go?  It went by so fast that I didn't have time to blink.  I guess it's just been so busy with the kids, lots of stomach bugs back and forth between us all, and we've been dumped on with snow and more snow, so much this month, that if we get anymore you won't be able to see out of the house...LOL.

I don't know about you but I am so done with winter!  I want spring so bad that it can't get here fast enough.  I want to be able to go for walks and open the windows and just be outside.

Can you tell that I'm getting houseitosis?  :)

You can't even see our sidewalks around here.  Nobody shovels them even though I think they are suppose to.

This time last year we had our last snow storm and then spring jumped right on in and brought out the beautiful weather.  I hope the same thing happens again this year.  Easter is early this year and I hope we can see ground by then so we can use our yard.

So, I guess as I'm waiting for spring to arrive I will try to get some early spring cleaning done and start looking at some paint chips.  It's time to repaint the living room.  The walls are yelling that it's time.  I'm itching to work on projects so I will keep you posted at what is going on.

Happy first day of March!  Bring it on Spring!  :)
